From Passion for Horses to Love for Sabong
Joshua Grape, the owner of Patak Game Farm in Calasiao, Pangasinan, found his calling in Sabong. Transitioning from his earlier passion for horses, he discovered joy, stability, and a community through roosters.
“Sabong has given me more than victories—it has shaped my life and allowed me to provide for my family,” Joshua shares. His journey into rooster breeding has led to strong connections and endless opportunities.
The Foundation of Patak Game Farm
Founded in January 2023, Patak Game Farm was established by Patrick Karamat to supply top-tier roosters for the Pangasinan Coliseum. Recognizing the importance of self-sufficient breeding, Patrick entrusted Joshua to manage and expand the farm.
Spanning 2.5 hectares, the farm includes breeding pens, flying pens, and conditioning areas capable of housing 400 gamefowl. Currently, 180 roosters are being raised and conditioned for Sabong competitions.
Champion Bloodlines for High-Stakes Sabong Matches
Patak Game Farm is celebrated for its diverse and competitive gamefowl bloodlines, tailored for Sabong and betting success:
- SBR Golden Boy Sweater: Renowned for its finishing strength.
- Sweater Gray: Known for its agility and adaptability.
- Immortal Dome Josan Nino White: A proven performer in intense derbies.
“Our focus on producing elite roosters has led to victories in high-profile matches, including the WPC Bakbakan and Salpukan derbies,” Joshua says. The farm aims to increase production to 1,000 stags for the next breeding season.
Advanced Training and Conditioning for Roosters
Every rooster at Patak Game Farm undergoes a comprehensive conditioning program to prepare for the challenges of Sabong matches. The program includes:
- Health Maintenance: Regular deworming with Vermex 4 and twice-weekly doses of Calveex and B12.
- Specialized Feeding: Incorporating Levimin GK for added nutrition and energy.
- Pre-Match Preparation: Intensive sparring sessions and flashing techniques ensure the roosters are competition-ready.
